Back in 1883 Otto Robert Maier founded the company in Ravensburg, a town in Upper Swabia in southern Germany. He initially started as a publisher of instruction folders for craftsmen and architects and very quickly was able to set himself up financially. His first game was produced in 1884 and it was called "Journey around the World".
In early 20th century he expanded his product range to include picture books, books, children's activity books, art instructions and several other product lines. In 1912 many of their products were exported to Western Europe, countries like Danube Monarchy as well as Russia. Closer to the beginning of the First World War, Ravensburger was offering around 800 different products.
Today their range includes thousands of books, puzzles, games and many other products. Ravensburger is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest puzzle in the world consisting of 32,000 pieces and measuring over 5 meters long once put together.
Ravensburger uses patented technology to produce its puzzles ensuring outstanding quality across the range.
